One more bold patent from Samsung

There's a phone for everyone to match any possible needs. That's right, just about any needs. Samsung's concept has not been released yet and is only in its patent state, but features an innovative idea, that of monitoring the fertility of its user.

This patent sports a mobile phone which is for women only. It includes a fertility monitor, one feature that many ladies will appreciate, whether they are trying to get pregnant or avoiding this from happening. The handset holds the software and also the tools needed in order to be fully operational and give best results.

A similar phone has been released some time ago by NTT DoCoMo under the name of D702iF FOMA, in order to help birth rates increase. Still, such a handset can work very well the other way around too. If a couple is looking to avoid unwanted pregnancies, all they have to do is look for the non-fertile period that the mobile phone is sure to point out with precision.

Samsung's patent for such a device is based on the woman's body temperature and on the distance to the eardrum, which is measured with ultrasonic or laser sensors. The infrared plays an important part in measuring the temperature and giving an exact result. These measurements are processed by the software installed on the cellphone, which also plays an important part.

The change in the woman's body temperature is capable of helping determine when the menstruation and ovulation period is. Only 7 days before the ovulation day and 4 days after that are considered to be fertile. Before this period begins, the body temperature is lower and after it ends it reaches higher values. For this reason, the device can offer a precise result based only on the user's body temperature.

Samsung has already filed some patents that they have later dropped or just considered to be unworthy of further consideration. There is a slight chance that the same will not happen to this one, especially if considering the fact that it has been used before too.
