Spotted in the wild at the end of September, Samsung Continuum seems to be close to a Verizon release, together with a new leaked Android smartphone, LG Vortex. The Continuum is a Samsung Galaxy S device that supports two displays, while the Vortex is a mid-budget Android smartphone

According to the guys over Droid-life, both Android devices should be launched on Verizon on October 29th. If the rumors are true, Verizon will be launching about six Android smartphones till the end of the month.

Samsung Continuum is definitely a high-end Android smartphone, so it will probably be powered by the same 1GHz Hummingbird processor and will boast at least a 5-megapixel shutter.

Even though from the pictures leaked the Continuum may look weird and awkward, the fact that it features two displays might be a good thing for the battery after all.

Beside the usual 4-inch touchscreen, the Continuum also includes a small display where the physical buttons are usually placed. The small screen can be used as a notification bar, as it displays weather, RSS updates, missed calls, received messages, etc.

This will most likely make users check the small display for notifications, rather than the bigger one, thus saving a little bit of battery.

The only downside of the device seems to be the placement of the soft touch-keys, which are now in-between the two displays.

There's no news regarding the operating system that will run on Samsung Continuum, but it must be Android 2.2, which has just been released for most of the Galaxy S smartphones.

LG Vortex is a mid-budget Android smartphone that will be powered by a 600 MHz processor and will run Android 2.2 OS.

No information about either of the smartphone's price tag, but if the rumors are true we'll be finding it out soon.
