South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung announced today the launch of its mobile software solutions portal, Samsung Apps, in more markets, including Singapore, Germany, Brazil and China. According to the company, the storefront should arrive in these countries for users of Omnia II (I8000) and OmniaLITE (B7300, I329) in late January, and will offer them one click access to a large amount of applications, games, social networking solutions and more.

“Beginning with the global expansion of Samsung Apps, Samsung will make its application store available to owners of its upcoming flagship models. Our goal is to help everyone to enjoy rich, personalized mobile experiences, wherever and whenever they wish,” said Kanghyun Kwon, vice president of Samsung’s Media Solution Center. “To help customers get the best out of their Omnia devices, we are carefully categorising our applications and services, making them accessible, easily searchable, and always relevant to you.”

Samsung also revealed that users of a Samsung Omnia II or OmniaLITE would enjoy titles like Guitar Hero (Mobile Bus), Spiderman (Gameloft), Need for Speed (EA) right from the launch day, while various other applications from leading third-party publishers should become available later during the year. Among the software developing companies which are currently working with the phone maker on the matter, we can count Gameloft, Electronic Arts, Handmark, CrazySoft Limited, Paragon SW, Com2us, or Shazam.

At the same time, the handset vendor announced that the Samsung Apps portal would also come with local language-based applications, so as to increase usability. Users in Singapore, Germany, Brazil and China can already download the Samsung Apps client for their handsets from the mobile phone maker's website, the company added. However, the exact availability of the service will differ from one country to another, it seems.

“From mid-February, products in Singapore and Germany will be shipped with the Application Store pre-installed; these customers will also be able to take advantage of Kies – a new software suite that allows users to search and download applications directly from PCs. The applications are then installed onto a mobile device when synced with a PC, providing instant back up and peace of mind for application downloads,” Samsung concludes.
