With the Magic Key keypad with E-Ink Technology

As announced before, Verizon released the Samsung Alias 2 on its airwaves starting today, May 11, and the phone can already be seen on the carrier's site, where it is listed with a price tag of $79.99 upon the signing of a 2-year contract agreement and after a $50.00 mail-in rebate, though it can also be purchased with a 1-year contract for $149.99 after rebate, or free of contract for $259.99.

The most attractive feature of the new Samsung Alias 2 is its Magic Keypad with E-Ink Technology, as it features two modes, namely a phone mode, when it delivers a standard keypad, and a texting mode, when the keys change into a full, four-row QWERTY keypad. At the same time, the device also comes with a 2-way flip form factor.

Other specifications of the device also include a 2.6-inch QVGA screen that can deliver a 240 x 320 pixel resolution, as well as support for 262K colors, and a 2.0-megapixel photo snapper that features video recording capabilities, Night Shot, Self Timer, Color Effects, Multi-Shot Mode, digital zoom and a dedicated camera key.

The new Samsung Alias 2 also provides capabilities like Bluetooth, a music player with support for MP3, WMA, Unprotected AAC & Unprotected AAC+ formats, V CAST Music with Rhapsody, support for V CAST Video, Mobile Email, Mobile Web Mail, Mobile IM, and Chat, along with Mobile Web functionality and Visual Voicemail.

In addition, the phone also offers users the possibility to add up to 16GB of additional storage space via the microSD memory card slot, support for VZNavigator, GPS, Speakerphone and a 2.5mm Headset Jack. The phone measures 4.01" x 2.04" x 0.67" and weighs 4.34 ounces, while its 880 mAh Lithium-Ion battery can offer up to 300 minutes of talk time, or up to 336 hours of standby time.
