Running under Symbian

Espoo, Finland-based mobile phone maker Nokia was rumored a while ago to plan on moving towards the MeeGo platform with its high-end N Series devices, with the soon-to-arrive Nokia N9 being the first such handset in the series. The company explained recently that N Series phones won't run exclusively under MeeGo, as Symbian^4 devices might also be included in the lineup, and the fact that Nokia N9 was spotted into the wild with the Symbian OS on board seems to confirm in a way this state of facts.

This is not the first time when the so called Nokia N9 makes it in a video, nor the first time we learn some info on the hardware specifications it should land on shelves with. A side sliding QWERTY keyboard is among the nicest features of the device, complemented by a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display, and by a high-end camera. Some suggested that the device would actually boast a 4-inch display.

The video below surfaced on the web courtesy of TechnoBuffalo, which posted another video with the device several days ago, in which the Nokia N9 was sized up against the iPhone and the HTC EVO 4G. There are not too many new details on the handset being brought to the light via this new clip, nor does the N9 run under another OS than Symbian. At least not in the video previews in which it emerged recently.

Of course, everybody expects N9 to be the first MeeGo-based phone from Nokia, which makes some think twice before stating that the device featured in the video below is indeed the Nokia N9 and not another yet unannounced phone from Nokia, such as an N8-01, or a C Series handset. This particular device emerged in a wide range of photos and videos lately, and all reports suggested that it would actually be the Nokia N9, even if the OS powering it might prove otherwise. Hopefully, Nokia would unveil it officially in the not too far future, and we'll learn more on it.
