Recently, Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion and wireless carrier U Mobile Sdn Bhd announced officially the launch of the BlackBerry solution for customers in Malaysia.

According to the duo, the partnership would include the release of smartphones, software and services that would provide users with fast access to email and messaging, social networking, phone, organizer, web, and more.

Through this launch, U Mobile customers would have the possibility to enjoy the benefits of BlackBerry smartphones for staying connected with friends and family while on the go.

The wireless carrier will launch initially two BlackBerry smartphones for its customers in Malaysia, namely the BlackBerry Bold 9780 and the BlackBerry Curve 3G, followed by more of them in the future.

The BlackBerry Bold 9780 offers a compact design, the BlackBerry 6 operating system, 3G connectivity, WiFi, GPS receiver, a 5MP camera, 512 MB of Flash memory, and a microSD memory card slot for additional storage space.

The BlackBerry Curve 3G smartphone offers built-in GPS and Wi-Fi, video recording, a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32Gb of additional storage space, 3G support, fast Internet connectivity, and more.

“We are very pleased to have a long-term partnership with RIM to introduce the BlackBerry solution to our customers in Malaysia,” Chief Executive Officer of U Mobile Sdn Bhd, Dr Kaizad Heerjee, said.

“BlackBerry smartphones will allow our customers to easily stay in touch with the people and information that’s important to them and access information quickly and efficiently no matter where they are through our enhanced 3G high speed network.

“We also look forward to continuously unveiling new and exciting products which are focused at delivering simple, flexible and affordable plans to the market.”

The carrier would offer a series of unlimited BlackBerry data plans at affordable price tags for its customers, offering daily, weekly and monthly connectivity.

The BlackBerry Bold 9780 arrives at the operator with a price tag of RM1,700 attached to it, while the BlackBerry Curve 3G will be priced at RM1,075.
