Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion is expected to bring to the market during the ongoing year a new series of devices that would greatly appeal to users, and a new BlackBerry Curve smartphone might be among them.

We already had the chance to learn a few details on this device, courtesy of some leaked photos and specs that emerged a few weeks ago, and it seems that the BlackBerry Curve made it to the headlines once again.

According to a recent article on n4bb (via MobileSyrup), what should be the first images of the next-gen Curve device, codenamed BlackBerry Sedona, have made it into the wild, long with a series of details on the handset's specs.

The forthcoming mobile phone, known internally as the R010, is expected to come to the market with an impressively thin form factor, almost half the size of BlackBerry Bold 9700/80.

Moreover, the new mobile phone is expected to arrive on shelves with an EM1 battery inside, as well as with 512MB of RAM on board, and with RIM's new OS 6.1.

According to the news site, the new mobile operating system from RIM comes with a notification feature that is similar to the one in Android. When in an application or browsing through icons, a notification would appear at the top of the screen.

They also note that the BlackBerry 6.1 OS is quite buggy at the moment, but that things are expected to get better as the development of the platform advances. The upcoming device might seem a lot like the Bold 9780, only that it sports a much thinned design. The screen is only a little smaller than the one on 9780, but it would feel almost the same.

Other specs of BlackBerry Curve Sedona would include the support for 3G bands 1, and for GSM/CDMA connectivity, which means that it might become a world phone when launched on the market.
