Producers are reportedly relieved that Bristol Palin didn’t win DWTS: it would have meant the death of the show

The latest season of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars ended with Jennifer Grey and partner Derek Hough taking home the mirror-ball statuette. Reports claim producers are happy that Bristol Palin wasn’t the winner.

As we also reported on a several previous occasions, many fans of the show said they would not return for the next season because it had gotten too “political” and they refused to be a part of it.

In other words, they believed Palin only made it through to the finals because of her mother’s political background and not because of her dance skills.

With this in mind, it’s no wonder PopEater is reporting the producers are relieved she wasn’t voted at number one. The show would have been over if she had won, sources say.

“Dancing With The Stars producers are thrilled Bristol Palin didn’t win in last night’s finale, fearing her triumph would have made it next to impossible to get celebrities to sign up for next season’s competition,” PopEater writes.

“Hollywood is famously liberal, and to have the daughter of a Tea Party candidate win would have meant that booking the show would have been impossible,” a casting director reveals for the e-zine.

It’s best not to mix dancing and politics – and doing that by crowning Palin the winner would have meant the death of the show.

“Now that Jennifer Grey has won, so many other stars will want to be part of the show and try to get their hands on the mirror ball trophy. If Bristol had won, the show would have been dead,” the spy adds.

According to the same insider, had Bristol won, the show would have lost all credibility, both with the audiences and the winners from previous editions, all of whom are part of an “elite club.”

“If Bristol had won it would have made the entire show a joke. Now that Jennifer is the winner, the producers are relieved and the show’s dignity has been restored,” another source from ABC explains.

As we also informed you the other day, Jennifer Grey won top spot, while Kyle Massey came in second. Bristol Palin won third place.
