While many are content with just speaking out their mind on whether Bristol Palin deserves to be on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars final (apparently, she doesn’t), others are taking things to the extreme, sending her death threats.

Over the weekend, police were called to investigate an envelope filled with a suspicious-looking white powder that Bristol got in her fan mail. It turned out to be just talcum powder.

Unfortunately, the ordeal is not over for the daughter of the former Governor of Alaska, TMZ reports: now, police are looking at a series of death threats that she got on the basis that she’s only in the final because of politics, not her dance skills.

“Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas have received death threats and Dancing with the Stars has measurably heightened security, sources connected with the show tell TMZ,” the e-zine notes.

Until the show that got Bristol in the finals, no one seemed to have a problem with her on the show, the report argues, since it’s only then that the threats started pouring in.

“We’re told the threats began to come in last week, after Bristol and Mark made the finals. Execs on the show told Mark to stop tweeting because it was inciting people. Mark complied,” TMZ reports.

To ensure that none of these threats are carried out, executives have already upped security around the dancing couple, with extra attention going to those moments when they take to the stage to dance.

“If Bristol and Mark head to New York, execs are talking about breaking format and not doing their interview outside in Times Square – but rather in the studio, where it’s more secure,” TMZ says.

One source confirms security worries on DWTS, saying things are about to get out of control. “Everyone is genuinely worried. This is a dance competition, and it’s just gotten crazy,” the insider dishes.

With all this, estimates say that Bristol stands excellent chances to win this year’s edition of DWTS, regardless of how universally unliked (to avoid using the stronger term of “hated”) she appears to be.
