If you like Tauren trash metal

Even if there's no news of the official merger between Vivendi Games and Activision and with even less news regarding the future of certain key Vivendi Games property - like Prototype - once the merger goes through, there are signs that the process of integrating business assets and creating cross brand marketing has already begun in earnest.

Activision and Vivendi subsidiary Blizzard have announced that they plan to release a World of Warcraft themed track for the music simulator Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock from Activision. The track is "I am Murloc" as performed by the Tauren Chieftains in the game. It is set to make its appearance as downloadable content on both Xbox Live and on the PlayStation network simultaneously on June 26, just days from the debut of the highly anticipated Worldwide Invitation event staged by Blizzard in Paris, on the 28 and 29 of June.

There are not many pieces of music taken from games that were considered interesting enough to get released for Guitar Hero or Rock Band, even if gamers are the main audience of these simulators. The Halo 3 background pieces got released for the homonymous title, as did the music from God of War, while the "Still Alive" end song from Portal is now available on Rock Band.

"I am Murloc" itself is a trash metal parody of the history and identity of the often ignored Murlocs, a race of fish like people that serve as low level enemies in both Warcraft II and in World of Warcraft.

By releasing the song now, Blizzard might again be teasing its fans regarding the announcement that it is set to make at the upcoming event about a new game in development at the company. Most fans hope that Diablo 3 is getting the green light at last. I am personally hoping for Starcraft: Ghost to be released from development hell.
