Treo 850 is one of the newest smarpthones that Palm will soon launch and it also seems to be the most advanced device to come from the Sunnyvale company until now. Moreover, the handset clearly has the nicest design of all the Palm smartphones, being quite fashionable and slim.

Although Palm hasn't unveiled any details about its new product, we do know that it measures 113 x 60 x 14 millimeters (4.45 x 2.36 x 0.55 inches) and weighs slightly over 100 grams. Its features will almost surely include: GSM/EDGE connectivity, plus UMTS/HSDPA for data transfer speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps, A-GPS (assisted GPS), Wi-Fi, a square touchscreen display with 320 x 320 pixels (and probably 65K colors), Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP and EDR, microUSB for syncing and charging, a 400 MHz processor, a 2 Megapixel camera with video recording, a 1500 mAh battery and a microSD card slot that apparently is positioned under the battery, hence it will be pretty hard to access. Treo 850 should also come with 256 NAND Flash memory and from 32 to 100 MB of RAM (we hope it's not 32).

Another good to know thing about the new Treo is that it runs on Windows Mobile 6.1, hence it has a wide range of useful applications, like Office Mobile, Outlook Mobile, Pocket IE and so on.

There are still no details about when the Treo 850 hits the market or about its retail price or the carriers that will offer the smartphone. But the new handset will probably be available in June or July the latest, at the same time with Treo 800w, another new Palm device that packs similar features. If the 850 is wisely priced by Palm, it could become as successful as the Centro, which has already been sold in more than 1 million units worldwide.
