Supposedly coming with GPS and Wi-Fi

The very first clear image with Palm Treo 800w has surfaced on the Web recently, showing the real face of the future smartphone that the Sunnyvale company will release sometime this summer. How does the Treo 800w look? Pretty good, but it doesn't have anything out of the ordinary. Not in terms of design at least, because, from the rumored details we have until now, Treo 800w seems to be the most advanced Palm device ever created.

Sure, there's nothing official from Palm regarding the new Treo, but the smartphone's features apparently include: a square touchscreen display with a 320 x 320 pixel resolution, built-in GPS (or A-GPS), Wi-Fi connectivity, 3G capabilities (with EVDO Rev. A), a 2 Megapixel camera with video recording, Bluetooth 2.0, USB, 256MB of ROM, 128MB of RAM, a fast processor (at around 400 MHz), microSD card support and so on. The 800w will surely run on the latest Windows Mobile 6.1 and not on a Palm OS, which will probably make the device more attractive for end users.

While the available image with Palm Treo 800w (first spotted on Shadowmite) shows a blue prototype version of it, we're pretty sure Palm will offer the handset in several other colors, like it has done with the Centro. And since we mentioned Centro, the Treo 800w has lots of chances to reach the same success (it's known that Palm sold until now more than 1 million Centros).

Of course, if we think that the new Treo has more features than the Centro, it's somehow logical that the 800w will be a bit more expensive. But nice specs always require that users pay more, so the higher price will actually not be a surprise. We just hope that it won't be too high.

Treo 800w should hit the market in a few months and when it does we'll see if it has all the rumored features and if it can attract a large number of consumers.
