The best-looking Palm smartphone

After the Treo 800w leaked last week, now we have another new Palm let loose on the Web, this time the Treo 850. If the 800w was and still is seen as looking pretty good, the 850 is even better, as its design is something really new for a Palm device.

Boy Genius Report posted a clear shot of the Treo 850, showing it to be the best-looking Palm to date. Of course, the new Treo resembles the latest smartphones released by the Sunnyvale manufacturer, but it surely is unique for Palm's line-up, mainly due to its "rounded" and fashionable overall aspect.

Aside from the new design, the Treo 850 also features the well-known Palm QWERTY keypad, a square TFT touchscreen display (most probably with a 320 x 320 pixel resolution), Windows Mobile (we don't know yet if it's the 6.1 version), a 400 MHz processor, 100MB of built-in memory and that's about all we know for the moment. Anyway, were we to take some wild guesses - based on the info known about the other new Treo (800w) - the 850 could also pack a camera of at least 2 Megapixels, 3G connectivity, GPS and Wi-Fi. Which would make the smarpthone not only good-looking but also quite advanced in terms of features.

Besides the image with Treo 850 from the front, there's also a picture showing the new Palm in comparison with BlackBerry 8800. The Treo is a bit smaller and it seems a bit thinner too. Knowing that RIM's 8800 smartphone is 14 mm thick, the 850 has all the chances to be the slimmest Palm handset ever created.

There's no word yet about when Palm will officially launch the Treo 850, but this will probably happen at the same time as the release of the 800w. We're waiting.
