Sprint will soon release the new Treo smartphone

One of the latest Treo smartphones prepared by Palm, the Treo 800w, was seen today in the first on-hand photos, after another leaked image with the device was showing it just "lying on a desk". Well, the 800w looks nice when in hand and it seems to have about the same size as the Centro - which is known for being the smallest and most lightweight Palm smartphone released until now.

As the Palm Centro, the new Treo 800w will most probably be offered by Sprint first and then by other carriers (Verizon, among them). We're saying this because the 800w that can be seen in the new live photos already has Sprint's logo on it.

Found at the Sprint Users Forums, the two new images with the Treo 800w don't bring any news on the smartphone, but they allow us to compare it with the other smartphones currently on the market. For example, the 800w seems to be smaller than any of RIM's BlackBerry devices and this aspect can have an important role in the success of the new Treo.

There will surely be at least two color versions of Treo 800w, since the first leaked image with it shows it in a blue case, while the new ones unveil a dark-gray smartphone. Moreover, if it's to think about all the colors the Centro is now available in, Palm could offer the Treo 800w also in pink, red, white, green and so on, so as to correspond with about all the tastes users might have.

Until now, the rumored features that Palm packed into the Treo 800w include: a 320 x 320 TFT touchscreen display, Windows Mobile 6.1, Wi-Fi, built-in GPS, Bluetooth 2.0, a 2.0 Megapixel camera with video, USB, a 400MHz processor, 256MB of ROM and 128MB of RAM, plus the well-known QWERTY keypad.

We can't say yet when the Treo 800w gets to be released, but it will probably come at about the same time with the other new Treo created by Palm, the 850 model, which (apparently) has more features than the 800w and it also looks better.
