Via Sprint

After the long-awaited release of Samsung Instinct, which was made available on June 20, Sprint will come up with another device that might prove to be successful and that is Palm Treo 800w.

Together with the 850 model, Palm 800w is part of a new generation of Windows Mobile 6.1 Treo handsets, which might bring back Palm's once glorious status in the smartphone world. The 800w was not yet officially unveiled by Palm, but leaked images and details about it have appeared several times in the last few months, allowing us to see that the device is seriously improved when compared to the old Treos.

Now, according to WMExperts, Palm Treo 800w will be released in the US via Sprint, on July 13. The handset apparently has a retail price of $599, which might seem a bit too much. But, after all, the 800w is a Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone and all the devices that fall into this category have quite high prices. Plus, with a contract agreement for one or more years, Sprint will surely offer the new Treo for less than $599, hence users in need of buying a business-featured device will probably see in the 800w a noteworthy option.

Besides Windows Mobile 6.1, Palm Treo 800w also brings the following features: built-in GPS, Wi-Fi, EV-DO Rev A. connectivity (for high data transfer speeds), 128MB of RAM, a 400MHz processor, Bluetooth 2.0, a 2 Megapixel photo camera, USB 2.0, a square 320 x 320 pixel TFT touchscreen display and a full QWERTY keypad.

While it's hard to believe the 800w will be as popular as the Centro (which, more than two months ago, had past the 1,000,000 cold unit mark), the new Treo might still get a good share of the smartphone market. We'll see how good exactly that is after the 13th of July.
