The upcoming Palm Pre is one handset that is expected to hit the shelves with a wide range of capabilities, maybe with even more than other high-end devices on the market, yet it seems that some features will lack from the handset's packaging as well, and one of them could be the visual voicemail functionality.

It looks like Palm has stated in a post on Twitter that the handset will not include visual voicemail capabilities, as an answer to kirkyuhnke's questions regarding the visual voicemail on the Pre. Although the feature was expected not to lack from the phone, here is what Palm seems to have answered: “Palm Synergy presents integrated messaging in lots of useful ways, but not that particular way.”

According to some voices over the web, this might also suggest that Palm is trying to keep silent on some of the capabilities of the webOS, though there are also great chances that a future application will come to address this feature, in case it lacks in the beginning. The best thing that we can do for the moment is wait for the Palm Pre to become available on the market to see how things really are.

In the meantime, you might want to know that the mobile phone will come to the market at Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Radio Shack and Fry's Electronics, as well as in Sprint's stores, which means that it will be available for purchase at four major retailers in the country. In addition, we also learn that Best Buy will have the Pre available for full retail as well, and that the price tag has been set at $849.99. All in all, it seems that the retailer will raise the price of the phone a little higher than expected.

For what it's worth, Sprint and Palm are determined to turn the Pre into a winner, it seems, as they plan on making it available on many locations. For the time being, the only details on the price of the phone are those coming from Sprint and Best Buy, but we should learn in the near future how much it will cost with the rest of the retailers as well. Hopefully, it will be less than $849.99.
