Palm Pre, the highly expected mobile phone running under the brand new Palm webOS, which was announced only yesterday to come to the market on June 6 on Sprint airwaves, will also become available for purchase at Best Buy, as it has been rumored many times. The best part of the story is that the device will actually come to the retailer featuring a price tag of $199 with no mail-in rebate required.

While up to recently this was only a rumor, it seems that Best Buy has confirmed the availability of the handset without MIR (mail-in rebate), which means that those who will purchase the handset directly from Sprint will pay $299.99 for it and will have to wait for a whole lot of time before receiving $100 back in the mail, while acquiring it from Best Buy will not include this part in the equation.

Best Buy Mobile officially announced that not only would it start selling the Palm Pre on June 6, but that it would also do so without the hassle of mail-in rebates, allowing users to “buy with instant rebate savings at the point of purchase.” As many of you might already know, Best Buy Mobile has now 1067 locations around the U.S., and is one of the leading destinations for smartphone purchases.

“The addition of the Palm Pre to our assortment gives consumers the opportunity to see all of the latest and greatest mobile phone technology under one roof,” said Shawn Score, President of Best Buy Mobile. “Our vast selection of smartphones allows customers to see which device is right for their individual needs. They can also check to see if they are eligible for an upgrade, no matter what carrier they’re currently using.”

While most of you should already know what the new Palm Pre mobile phone is all about, it’s up to you at this point to choose where you would like to acquire your handset from. For what it's worth, in case Best Buy Mobile has enough units to meet demand, the device should turn into a great selling phone in no time.
