The 16GB PSP Go gets a final price of $250 for the October 1 launch at just $50 dollars short of the 160GB PlayStation 3 Slim. To promote the product, Sony Computer Entertainment America will make available for the launch over 16,000 items PSP Go-compatible in the form of 13,300 television episodes and 2,300 movies. To complete the figure, some 225 games will be available straight from day one of the launch. The list will be made up of games that have already been released on the UMD and the PlayStation Network and PlayStation One games ported to the PSP.

The list includes titles such as God of War: Chains of Olympus, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas, Star Wars: Battlefront II, Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny, Tetris, Fieldrunners, Madden NFL 10, Monster Hunter: Freedom Unite, and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10. But old titles won't be the only thing made available for the launch. The biggest new game to come will be Gran Turismo and will be accompanied by other titles such as MotorStorm Arctic Edge, PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe or Beaterator. They will all become available for download on the PSP Go. This won't be a one time deal of game releases, as other titles will follow as SCEA hardware marketing director John Koller assures us.

"We can't say 'all' because there are legal restrictions in converting some titles to digital, but on the whole, we expect a substantial amount," Koller said. "I think what consumers can expect is to go onto the PSP store and see a large amount of previously released UMD content and see day-and-date releases of new games."

To facilitate even more the sales for the PSP Go, Sony will offer for sale PlayStation Network Game Cards for downloadable games at retail stores. The first batch of cards will come for Gran Turismo, God of War: Chains of Olympus, Daxter, SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 2, MotorStorm Arctic Edge, Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee 2, Patapon 2, Twisted Metal: Head On, NBA 10: The Inside and Secret Agent Clank. To be generous to their customers, Sony decided to even the scales a little and announced last week that North American PSP owners would not receive free digital copies of PSP games they had already purchased on UMD. But in Europe, PSP owners that switch to the PSP Go will receive three games to download for free from a specific list.
