Will not receive new content

Sony, as the publisher, and Polyphony Digital, as the developer, are only a few short months away from the release date for the new Gran Turismo videogame for the PlayStation Portable, which was first detailed at the E3 conference.

But info on the game is scarce at the moment so the fans will be happy to learn that the developers are at least talking about how the game will not be getting any downloadable content and how a demo is not planned to arrive before the official release date.

On the issue of the lack of DLC, Chris Hinojosa Miranda and Taku Imasaki, who are the producers of Gran Turismo PSP, said that “We’re planning on having 800+ cars right out of the box, which is pretty much a lifetime’s worth of racing (I’m still unlocking cars from GT4). With that sort of breadth and reach of options, having DLC would be like tossing water into the ocean.” Seems fair enough as long as the included cars are different from one another to allow players to experience different racing styles.

It seems that the first handheld release of Gran Turismo will not have a damage model implemented and that only four cars will race on one track at the same time in order to make sure that the PlayStation Portable is able to run the videogame at stable 60 framerates. The developers insist that, despite the limitations, the experience delivered will be in line with that of former Gran Turismo titles.

It also seems that gamers who are awaiting a new update for GT5 Prologue should give up asking about Trophies and custom soundtracks, as the development team that worked on the game is now in the final stretch of the work on the full Gran Turismo 5, which was said to be able to interact in an unspecified way with Gran Turismo PSP.
