'...the first WWII game that allows the player to land anywhere and truly fight the way they want to...'

Even though recent Medal of Honor titles haven't exactly rocked the PS, with their poor visuals and repeated storyline, Medal of Honor Airborne, the newest installment from EA, will ship to stores in August 28, this year. Medal of Honor Airborne is set to redefine the series by introducing players to an entirely new way of experiencing a FPS based on the WW II happenings, and that's namely the Airborne experience of course. Airborne will be available for Sony's Playstation3 and Xbox 360 from Microsoft.

There's no demo out, so no review for the game is available at this point; thus we'll just have to settle with Neil Young's thoughts on the game: "Medal of Honor Airborne is a new direction for the franchise introducing innovations that redefine the series as well as impact the FPS genre as a whole. We can't wait for August when everyone can experience the new Medal of Honor, the first WWII game that allows the player to land anywhere and truly fight the way they want to," said EALA VP and General Manager.

The first installment of the Medal of Honor series was released in 1999, for the PSone system, becoming one of the most popular, WW II based FPSs. The game was originally conceptualized by Steven Spielberg. The first PC installment of the game was Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, inspired by the film "Saving Private Ryan".

I can't say that I'm looking forward to playing the game, because not even PS2 installments looked much better than those on PSone. However, since EA turned their heads towards the Quake III Engine when making Allied Assault, I'm guessing that Unreal 3 Engine or something similar would be suitable for a PS3 and Xbox 360 port, so let's hope for the best.
