The GDC hosted a good number of events among which, Sony revealed some of PlayStation Home's features. The upcoming service from Sony has an impressive resum?, but the company didn't answer all the questions asked regarding the service. 1UP did a pretty good job at revealing some of the PS Home's features, after some digging up on information that wasn't available at the GDC.

First of all, everyone should know that PlayStation Home will launch sometime in October, after 2 sessions of beta testing (April - August 15.000 users, August - October 50.000 users). The social service that strikingly resembles Linden Lab's "Second Life" sim, will be a 500 MB downloadable one, that will allow a user to have as many as 50 friends. After launch, Home will play host to many events like exclusive game previews, developer interviews and broadcasts of live events and sports. In the same Sony created FAQ, the company was asked whether users will be able to access the service other than via PS3. Sony replied: "Initially Home will only be accessible via that PS3, although over time our intention is to enable users to interface certain Home features and services via other networked devices such as PlayStation Portable and mobile phones."

The question whether there would be an age restriction to the customization of an avatar even popped up, to which Sony answered briefly: Yes. We will not have avatars which resemble children. The avatars are adult in appearance. That's pretty much what everybody knows about Sony's PS Home service (everybody not working for Sony that is), so until trees turn yellow, be sure to sign up for the service.
