A MMORPG that has been in development forever and has suffered a lot of alterations

This year's GDC hosted a lot of great events in the world of games, among which Sony's speech regarding their social service-the PlayStation Home, that looks an awful lot like the Second Life sim, Nintendo's Super Paper Mario in-game footage and many others. GDC also hosted the presentation of Ncsoft's upcoming Futuristic MMORPG, Tabula Rasa, with a pretty impressive fact sheet, some nifty futuristic screenshots and an in-game trailer.

It has been in Ncsoft's basement for over two years now and all they can come up with is a trailer? No demo version or anything to give fans a bite? Anyway, the footage does look impressive but considering the long amount of time they needed to bring it to this stage, it could have been a lot better than a 3 dimensional third-person-cartoon. Also, the idea of humanity's last stand against an alien race (the Bane), is not that original either, but heck, anything to get gamers shooting around is good to sell.

However, it is said that the game didn't originally look like it does today. Conflicts between developers and the vague direction of the game were said to be the causes of this dramatic change. 20% of the original team were replaced and 75% of the code had to be replaced. Right before E3 2005, the game transformed into the current Sci-Fi MMORPG. You can download the trailer from HERE.
