On Wednesday, wireless carrier Orange UK announced that its popular animal plans had been extended to its mobile broadband offering. Panther, Dolphin and Racoon are now part of the company's mobile broadband refresh, being meant to offer users a simpler way to choose an option that best suits their needs. The new plans are meant to show Orange's commitment to provide greater choice and value to customers.

The Dolphin Mobile Broadband package offers users an hour of unlimited surfing each day at a time they choose, all for only £15 a month. According to the carrier, users have the possibility to choose a ‘Happy Hour’ from the available ones, including: “8am-9am (the morning commute), 12-1pm (lunch break), 4pm-5pm (late afternoon) or 10pm-11pm (late night).” This option should prove great for those using the Internet regularly to stay in touch with friends.

“Customers also enjoy 3GB of data per month on an 18 month contract or 2GB of data per month on a 1 month rolling contract,” Orange said. The Panther Mobile Broadband plan starts at a £25 monthly cost, and offers either 10GB or unlimited data. Those using a dongle for data connectivity should find this a great option. As for the Racoon Mobile Broadband package, existing Orange customers can have it starting at £5 a month, and provides connectivity to those who occasionally access the Internet while on the go.

At the same time, Orange announced that select Panther, Dolphin and Racoon plans could be used with laptops too, on 24-month plans. Those who own the Asus 1005HGO netbook or the Compaq CQ61 notebooks can choose these packages on top of their monthly mobile broadband plan, so as to get connected even easier than before. All of the new plans were put in place on Wednesday, May 5, the carrier announced. Additional details are available on its website.

“What’s more, with Orange you get a Mobile Broadband Bill Promise - an automatic monthly bill cap which means that Orange mobile broadband customers will not be charged more than an extra £40 a month for out of bundle national data usage if they accidentally go over their monthly data allowance whilst using their dongle in the UK. This excludes any SMS sent or data roaming abroad,” Orange concluded.
