The Android device expected to come in August

Samsung's i7500 mobile phone, the first device from the South Korean mobile phone maker to come to the market running under Google's Android operating system, has been launched in several markets around the world, and is already available for purchase in Germany via O2. However, it seems that the wireless carrier still has to introduce the handset on the UK market.

Although expected to come to O2's shelves this month, it looks like the Samsung i7500 won't be around until August, at least this is what Jonathan Mulholland from Mobile Industry Review states. According to him, the handset shows up on page 6 in the carrier's catalog for July, though the employees at a local store stated that it was expected to come in August.

There are a lot of enthusiasts waiting for the device to hit the shelves in the country, though it is rather uncertain how much traction it will see from mobile phone users in the UK, considering the fact that the iPhone is already there. Undoubtedly, the i7500 won't be able to measure up with the hot Apple device, yet we should still give it some credibility, for it can offer a wide range of features too, and the mobile user experience it can deliver should be a leveraged one.

And since we're talking about iPhone rivals and about wireless carrier O2, we should say a few words about Pre, the high-end mobile phone the Sunnyvale-based company Palm has recently released on the US market on the airwaves of Sprint. According to some of the latest rumors on the web, the handset should be announced to come on O2's network. Although there are no further details on the launch, it seems that Palm is set to make an official announcement about this as soon as this week, so stay tuned to learn more on this.
