Novatel Wireless, a leading wireless broadband access solutions provider, and Singaporean wireless carrier MobileOne (M1), announced on Monday that Novatel Wireless’ Intelligent Mobile Hotspot, dubbed MiFi 2352, would make its debut at COMEX 2009 in Asia, after having been launched on the American market.

M1 and Novatel Wireless partnered for the launch of MiFi on the Singapore market, so as to enable users in the area to enjoy an ultra portable credit card-sized Intelligent Mobile Hotspot that enables them to create their own Wi-Fi hotspot so that they can connect a wider number of devices. At the same time, M1 becomes the first carrier in Asia to provide its users with such a solution.

“M1 took the lead in offering mobile broadband in Singapore,” said P. Subramaniam, M1’s Chief Marketing Officer. “We are proud to be the first operator in Asia to offer MiFi. Together with our partner Novatel Wireless, we have introduced a brand new service innovation in the mobile broadband space. With the concept of hotspots now following the users, MiFi will influence and change the way mobile broadband is utilized.”

As many of you might already know, the MiFi 2352 delivers a Wi-Fi network that enables a number of up to five devices connect to the Internet. Through the use of the Intelligent Mobile Hotspot, users can have access to a WiFi network anywhere and at all times. The devices that can be connected include notebooks, gaming devices, printers and mobile phones.

“With M1’s leading services and MiFi, M1’s customers will receive unprecedented functionality and access for their wireless devices,” said Rob Hadley, CMO for Novatel Wireless. “We are very pleased to partner with M1 the first operator in Asia to deliver the most advanced wireless data ecosystem available for our combined customers.”

Some other features of MiFi 2352 include the fact that it does not require installation or previously installed software. At the same time, the hotspot comes with a built-in battery that can deliver up to four hours of active use, while the MiFi offers downlink speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps, as well as uplink speeds of up to 5.76 Mbps. The device will become available for purchase at M1 Shop starting this Thursday.
