The phone supports Alltel's Axcess MobileWeb 2.0 service

Nokia and cellular provider Alltel announced that the CDMA phone Nokia 6235i with built-in FM tuner is now available to Alltel subscribers.

The phone features an integrated VGA camera with digital zoom, camcorder capability and 640x480 pixel resolution, voice dialing, speakerphone, built-in FM radio and supports EMS (Enterprise Messaging Server) and MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) messaging.

"In addition, the Nokia 6235i is Alltel's first handset that lets customers purchase ring tones and phone wallpapers without leaving the Mobile Web portal," said Wade McGill, vice president of wireless product management at Alltel.

The handset supports Alltel's Axcess MobileWeb 2.0 enabling data transfers at up to 144K bps. Users will have Internet access, including Web browsing, e-mail, news, sports, weather and entertainment applications. Axcess Mobile Web additionally offers video, picture and text messaging and downloadable ring tones, games and wallpapers.

Alltel users can add Web access to their service plans for an extra $5.99 per month.

The phone is available through Alltel for $69.99 with two-year service agreement. On shorter-term, the phone is available for $129.99 with only one-year agreement.
