Although the report is yet to be confirmed, it seems that Tony Romo has ended the relationship with singer Jessica Simpson the day before her 29th birthday. Aside from the he-said, she-said type of rumors, the moment word of the breakup got in the media, speculation began about whether the now-single Jessica would reconcile with her former husband, who also happened to be fresh out of a long-term commitment, Nick Lachey. Not really, Nick himself tells People magazine.

Fans are free to believe whatever they choose, the former boy-bander says for the magazine, but what he does know for certain is that there is no reunion planned for him and Jessica. As a matter of fact, he has not spoken to her in almost two years and has moved on with his life in a different direction (and so has she), so even the idea that they might be getting back together again is preposterous.

“I think it’s fun storytelling, but there’s very little truth to any of it. I certainly have heard about her breakup and I wish her the best, as I’ve always done. Aside from that, there really is nothing to say.” Lachey says for People as to the rumors that have taken over the blogosphere minutes after word broke that Romo had split with Jessica. “I haven’t talked to her in probably two years. I wish her happiness. That’s where it pretty much ends.” the star adds.

While keeping mum on the subject of his recent split from VJ Vanessa Minnillo, who was initially reported to be at the root of his split from Simpson, Lachey also tells the magazine that he would never tread down the same path of reality television as he did with “Newlyweds.” The show, an insight into his and Jessica’s first days as a married couple, proved to be a huge hit with the audiences, as fans must remember. Unfortunately, it was also at the core of all future problems that eventually led to divorce, giving way to what is now known as the “reality television curse” for married couples.

“I would never do it the way it was done with us – with people living in your house, essentially, and having 24-hour access to your life, in your home. That, to me, was not a healthy way to go about it. But I think that anyone that kinda denies the success of reality TV is kidding themselves.” Lachey tells the mag. Because of this, Nick Lachey has been focusing lately on his music: his latest album, “Coming Up for Air,” drops this October.
