14 DAY TRIAL // Yesterday, an unconfirmed report got out in the press that Jessica Simpson had been dumped by her almost two-year boyfriend Tony Romo on the eve of her 29th birthday. While further details on the alleged split have yet to be revealed, a new report claims that at the core of it might have been John Mayer himself, whom Jessica dated before Romo, Radar Online says.
Apparently, things were already not looking good between the two, in the sense they were no longer seeing eye to eye on many issues, including also Simpson’s wanting to get married and start a family, a step that Romo was not willing to take, insiders say. However, it was when he found text messages from her former flame that he finally decided to give the relationship up and call it off, Radar adds now, citing sources familiar with the situation.
“Tony Romo had good reason for calling it quits with Jessica Simpson the night before her Barbie and Ken-themed bash. He found messages from her ex John Mayer! Flying into Los Angeles on Thursday, Romo quickly made up for lost time with Simpson but their reunion quickly took a turn for the worse.” Radar writes. Romo found text messages from Mayer on Simpson’s phone and got so upset that he broke up with her right then and there, without even giving it a second thought.
“They were hanging out and he picked up her phone and she got defensive about it. Tony found messages from John and went ballistic. Tony dumped her right then. He walked out and that was it.” an unnamed source confirms for the same e-zine. While this was clearly not the first time that Tony and Jessica had a fall-out, Radar further claims, this time it’s for good, since Romo had enough of it.
The couple started dating in November 2007 and, throughout the entire affair, Jessica has been very vocal about how happy she was and how much she loved Tony. Because of this, speculation had it at one point that the two were even considering marriage and that Jessica was trying to get pregnant to start a family as soon as possible. Fans should bear in mind, though, that rumors of the split have not been confirmed yet.
