Nick Cannon takes a shot at Eminem in new diss track, “I’m a Slick Rick”

A year after the feud between rapper Eminem on one side, and Nick Cannon and wife Mariah Carey on the other, Cannon is starting beef all over again with a song called “I’m a Slick Rick.”

The track comes a little over a year after the bitter feud came to a peaceful end – and a single listen is enough to show that Nick Cannon is far from forgiving Eminem for what he did.

“Over the beat of Cali Swag District’s ‘Teach Me How to Dougie,’ Cannon borrows Slick Rick’s cadence, delivery and flow. The song parlays lyrics from such Slick Rick staples as ‘Children’s Story’ and ‘La Di Da Di’,” HipHopDX writes of the new song.

“Only the second verse of the song, which clocks in at under three minutes, is directly aimed at Shady,” the e-zine says.

“I dunno if I should hit him cuz he’s feminine, Slick / Excuse me, Eminem, but why you lyin’ on your [expletive]? / […] I see your mouth moving, but you’re soft, Teddy Ruxpin,” Cannon sings.

He then goes on to say that he (Cannon) wanted to solve this between men at the BET Awards but Eminem reportedly hid behind his bodyguards, which means he was afraid.

As of now, Eminem has not responded to the diss. For those who don’t know the whole thing, here’s how it started:

In 2009, Eminem’s “Bagpipes from Bagdad” came out, containing a few lyrics that seemed a direct attack at Mariah, with whom the rapper had a brief fling at one point, which she always denied.

Mariah, in her turn, came up with a veiled response with “Obsessed,” in the video of which she even dresses like a man who bears a striking resemblance to Eminem.

Em didn’t take long to respond, unleashing the foul-mouthed “The Warning,” in which he told Mariah – in more or less words – to watch her mouth if she didn’t want personal tapes and recordings he had made of her to see the light of day.

Nick came to his wife’s defense, inviting Eminem to a face to face confrontation – which never happened, because Em apologized and said he wanted to put the whole thing past him.

Earlier this month, Eminem said in an interview with Vibe that he was “done” with the entire scandal, adding he no longer wanted to “keep beating a dead horse” because he’d said what he had to say.

Clearly, Nick Cannon didn’t buy it if he went through the trouble of recording an Eminem diss song, word on the blogosphere has it.
