The “Lambs” can breathe easy: Nick Cannon has decided to address a rumor that has been making the rounds a lot lately, about whether his wife Mariah Carey was expecting twins or not. It turns out, she is.

On his radio show, Cannon decided to be “up front” with his audience and finally set the record straight on a rumor that started with what looked like a slip of the tongue on part of Mariah, Us Magazine reports.

So, without consulting his better half, Cannon confirmed that she was, indeed, expecting twins and even offered some details on who were the first persons to find out about it.

“In order for my wife and I to have our life, we need to be up front and I need to be able to share things with you and be real,” Nick began by saying. Without this statement, rumors would have gotten out of control.

“I didn’t even tell my wife I was gonna do this. I’m probably gonna get yelled at for not getting permission... We are having twins!” Nick gushed.

When it came to explaining who were the first people to learn of this, Nick said it was actually the Obamas – and it was a pure accident, because Mariah spilled the beans on it, caught up as she was in the heat of the moment.

Mariah recently performed at the White House for a Christmas special, and she got to meet the Barack and Michelle Obama backstage, which is when she let it slip she was having twins.

“They actually even questioned my wife about [the twins]. She hadn’t told anybody anything! Because of the excitement and emotion, she shared [the news] with the President and the First Lady,” Cannon said.

As for the secrecy, Nick explained, “That was something that we were advised to keep close to ourselves.” On the bright side, Mariah’s just had an ultrasound and everything is well with the babies.

“Everything is A-OK! Both babies are healthy and in tip-top shape. The doctors are happy,” Nick said. No word yet on whether they’re having boys or girls.
