Nexus S by Samsung, the first mobile phone to arrive on the market with Google’s new Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system on board, has just received its first price cut in the UK, only one day before its official launch in the country.

The mobile phone should be put on sale on the UK market tomorrow, December 20th, via Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy, which have just lowered it's off contract cost.

The handset would be released on the local market with a price tag of £429.99 attached to it if purchased without a monthly contract, which is much lower than the £549.99 price tag the phone was listed with since recently.

The retailer did not offer specific info on why it chose to lower the price tag of Nexus S one day before making the phone available for purchase.

The contract price for Nexus S would remain the same, namely free on carrier agreements that start at £30 per month.

“The Nexus S smartphone is pure Google. It's fast, fluid, and full of all the latest Android innovations,” Carphone Warehouse notes on its website.

“With future proof technology and a clean new interface, Nexus S gives you an incredible user experience.

“The large 4" Super AMOLED display is bright, crisp and clear. The 1GHz Humming-bird processor works together with a dedicated Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), for effortless multitasking, immersive web browsing and a greater gaming experience.”

The handset also comes with 16GB of internal memory, a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, and a front-facing VGA (640x480) camera, 3.5mm headphone jack, Near Field Communication (NFC) capabilities, and more.

The mobile phone packs support for 3G connectivity, along with Wi-Fi 802.11 n/b/g, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, Assisted GPS (A-GPS), the whole range of sensors, and a 1500 mAH Lithum Ion battery that can offer up to 6.7 hours of talk time on 3G (17.8 days of standby).

Nexus S with Android 2.3 Gingerbread offers access to the Android Market, as well as to a wide range of Google services, including Gmail, Google Voice, Google Talk, Google Search, Google Maps with Navigation, or YouTube.
