According to the latest news on the Web, Motorola’s plans regarding Google's Android operating system also include the launch of an unheard-of-before device, the Motorola Sholes. Not only that it is Android powered, but the phone is also reportedly heading towards Verizon's lineup, though there are not too many details on this.

When it comes to the specification list of the Motorola Sholes, it shows a little more functionality than the already spotted Motorola Morrison. While the latter was supposedly heading to the market targeting teenagers, the former seems to come as a device aimed at heavy users, who are not looking mainly for a phone that includes messaging capabilities.

The new Motorola Sholes should come to Verizon's offering with a 3.7-inch touchscreen display able to deliver a 480 x 854 pixel resolution, as well as a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus, as well as 512 MB of internal memory, coupled with a microSD/SDHC memory card slot that can support up to 16GB of additional storage space (an 8GB card should be included in the package).

Among the other specs of the new phone we should mention 256 MB of RAM, a built-in GPS receiver, Wi-Fi connectivity, support for CDMA and EVDO Rev A, 3.5mm headset jack, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR 1, full HTML browser, media player (with support for AMR-NB/WB, MP3, PCM / WAV, AAC, AAC +, eAAC +, WMA and MPEG-4, H263, H264, WMV file formats), SMS, MMS, E-Mail capabilities, as well as a Li-ion 1400mAh battery that can deliver up to 420 minutes of talk time or up to 450 hours of standby time. The new handset should land in October this year, measuring 60.00 x 115.80 x 13.70 mm and weighing 169g.

All in all, it seems that Motorola is soon going to show that all the investments it has made lately in the Android operating system will pay off. Compared to the Motorola Morrison, supposedly on its way to T-Mobile, the new phone looks great, especially when it comes to the exterior design it should feature on the market. Stay tuned to learn more details on it.
