NVIDIA's Optimus technology has proved it’s worth time and time again, managing to cut battery consumption depending on the task at hand on just about every notebook/laptop it's ever been installed in, and that's also the case with the latest gaming-grade notebook from Digital Storm, the xm15.

The xm15 sports NVIDIA’s powerful GT 425M 1GB video card, that, coupled with the built-in Intel HD Graphics and the Optimus technology, enables the device to increase and decrease performance when needed, thus substantially extending battery life.

The laptop is available in three different configurations, being powered by either an Intel Core i5 520M CPU running at 2.4GHz, an Intel Core i5 540M processor running at 2.53 GHz or an Intel Core i7 640M CPU running at 2.8 GHz, while the available amount of RAM varies between 4GB 1066 MHz and 6GB 1600 MHz modules.

Also, storage is provided via 320GB or 500GB HDDs, depending on the specific model.

Additionally, the portable computing system comes packed with built-in eSATA and USB 3.0 transfer ports, as well as HDMI and VGA outputs, so it can be taken anywhere and displayed everywhere.

“The power demands of high performance laptops have always put a strain on battery life. With the development of NVIDIA’s Optimus Hybrid Technology, we’re finally able to design an affordable laptop that can handle graphic intensive applications,” remarked Rajeev Kuruppu, Digital Storm’s director of product development.

“Our xm15 is the ideal solution for customers who want to consume graphically rich multimedia content, game or just browse the internet...it’s truly a hybrid in every definition of the word,” Mr. Kuruppu added.

Of course, such an advanced portable gaming machine does come at a rather hefty price point, pricing for the Digital Storm xm15 starting somewhere in the vicinity of $999 and going up to 1,367 US dollars for the top-range model.
