New Black|Ops series member uses vertical heat dissipation

One would think that an assassin would do its best to stick to the shadows and walk past without being seen, but this is hardly what Digital Storm's latest product does. The Black|Ops Assassin custom gaming system is hardly what one would call a PC that doesn't stand out. On the other hand, much like a fearful noble or monarch, end-users are likely to be unable to sleep at night after learning of this Assassin's existence, albeit not because of fear.

What is most likely to cause sleep deprivation is the sheer awe the new PC can instill. This is because Digital Storm's fresh offer is a merger of the highest-end processing, graphics, memory, storage and cooling solutions available. Basically, the desktop takes the strongest parts it can find and pushes their performance even higher, depending on what the selected cooling mechanism allows.

Assassin has an LGA 1366 Core i7 CPUs at its core. This chip is backed up by up to 12GB of RAM, up to 3TB of storage space and one or two DirectX 11 cards (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 or ATI Radeon HD 5970). What is especially interesting is the cooling itself. The chassis is optimized for vertical cooling and, most importantly, boasts an optional liquid cooling mechanism that can let enthusiasts safely (more or less) push their chip to over 4GHz.

“Assassin is the system that performance enthusiasts have been waiting for. The pairing of exceptional components, patented processes and bleeding-edge design enables components to be pushed far beyond what any other gaming PC on the market today can promise,” said Rajeev Kuruppu, Digital Storm’s Director of Product Development. “The ability to effectively remove component damaging and performance inhibiting heat is phenomenal, but I’m astonished by how quietly we were able to accomplish this. The phrase whisper quiet is an understatement.”

The not at all stealthy Digital Storm Black|Ops Assassin comes with a three-year warranty and has a starting price of $2,387. Full information may be found here.
