It has also been confirmed that setting off explosions will kill multiple enemies at once

It's been quite some time since Capcom has revealed some solid facts on their upcoming Resident Evil Wii installment, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. Although the company hasn't set a release date for the survival/horror title, they have confirmed that selectable players will include Jill and Chris from Resident Evil 1, and Rebecca and Billy from Resident Evil 0. Recently, however, the company has divulged a more interesting aspect about the game: a 2-player cooperative mode.

As I found via 1UP today, the latest issue of the Japanese publication Weekly Famitsu, confirms that Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles for the Wii will indeed feature a 2-player co-op mode. It has also been confirmed lately, as the same reporting site posts, that RE: Umbrella Chronicles will feature situations where players will have to make use of grenades or shoot barrels and cars in the background to kill multiple zombies at once.

Implicitly, other details are confirmed by this exact feature: complete interaction with the environment and means of killing enemies and ending a stage in different, faster or more rewarding ways. Which is neat! The site also informs on the fact that selecting different players will change the starting point of the game. Which is...great! "For example, selecting Rebecca will begin in the train cars similar to Resident Evil 0," 1UP.com posts.

Anyway, what is already known and can be added to this newly arrived information in order to make a better picture, is that according to IGN's "Gamer's Day" hands-on report, the Wiimote will control the pointer, while the analog stick on the nunchuk will also orient where the player is looking. The player must also use the gun sight to locate such items as green herbs which will automatically recover the players health to a small degree, or other weapons to aid you while fighting. The player can use the D-Pad to swap weapons on the fly, but they will vanish completely if all ammo is depleted.

So there you have it. I have to say, I'm starting to feel different about this RE: Umbrella Chronicles for the Wii. I'm still positive that some aspect of the original code will be severely simplified for the Wii's controller, but hey, up until now no one complained about this but I, and since these impressive features have now been announced, I have to admit it sounds damn good.
