However, Capcom's head does not provide a specific date

Since Capcom first announced plans for a fifth installment of the Resident Evil series, the developer has kept everything awfully quiet. No one knows what's going on in their studios, what platforms they have in mind and so on. But thankfully, today we may have half of the answer courtesy of Capcom's financial results for their 2006 fiscal year, which president and CEO Kenzo Tsujimoto commented in the following manner:

"In order to make Capcom more competitive, we will focus on further strengthening development of our core home video games business, marketing efforts and sales efforts. We plan to create a title portfolio that accurately reflects the global market share, as well as strengthen our R&D organization and staff. Our title lineup includes many new titles in our existing franchises over the next period, including 'Resident Evil 5'", 1UP posts.

Now, Capcom't next financial year ends March 31, 2008, so if we're to go by the upper statement, fans of the survival-horror series may see Biohazard 5 (if they do decide to call it that), by that specific date. There is of course a bit of bad news. Yes I know, even though it was a long shot, there's bad news as well.

Contradictory, as the site upper mentioned reports, is Capcom's own financial presentation, where the developer didn't even mention Resident Evil 5, for the fiscal 2007 release. So then, is a Resident Evil 5 launching by March 31 2008, or isn't it? Quite frankly, I suppose that if Capcom had plans for a Resident Evil 5 by March 31 2008, they'd have just said it. The statement posted above does in some way say that it's coming by that date, but why didn't they just say it?

Chris Kohler of Game|Life points out in a very simple manner that Capcom's head could be promising Resident Evil 5, period. He's quite right, wouldn't you say?
