Computer maker Dell started the roll-out of a software update for its Dell Streak devices out there several weeks ago, offering its users the possibility to enjoy Google's Android 2.2 operating system, and is now reportedly delivering a new solution for its users. Apparently, the company decided to release the new solution in a quiet manner, and only for those Dell Streak units sold unlocked on the market.

The main reason for which the new software solution is being released concerns the security of all tablet PC owners out there, some of the latest reports on the matter suggest.

Reportedly, the new officially released Android 2.2 Froyo ROM for Dell Streak is build 12821. While there are no specific details on what the software solution brings forth, some suggest that there are a series of fixes there.

Among the solved issues that were reported for Dell Streak running under the new software update, we can count a web browser redirect issue spotted in older builds, as well as some fixes for problems related to 720p recording and Android Market crashes.

According to a recent article on Streak Smart, those who would like to download and install the new update should head to Dell's website here or here to receive the software.

However, the news site also notes that both those links would get users to the Streak_318_12821_00 package, which is available for download from here too.

The new Android 2.2 Froyo ROM for Dell Streak weighs in at 150MB. Upon applying the update, the baseband will be changed to GAUSB1A131800.

For the time being, there are no details available on the devices that this software was aimed at, but it seems that most of those who gave it a try were successful.

Before proceeding with the update, users should consider backing up all data on their Streak units, so as to make sure that no important files are lost during the process.
