Motorola XOOM, the first tablet PC that Motorola brought to the market with Google's Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system on board, is now available for purchase in Canada via Best Buy and Future Shop.

The new device comes with a large 10.1-inch touchscreen display, complemented by a powerful dual-core 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 application processor.

The new Motorola XOOM went on sale in Canada with a price tag of $599.99 attached to it, and did not require for users to commit to a contract agreement to enjoy its capabilities.

Apparently, it already appealed to a lot of users in the country, as it is already listed as out of stock at both retailers. The device is no longer available for purchase through stores as well.

According to MobileSyrup, only a number of 580 devices made it to shelves today, and it makes sense that they were sold so fast.

The Motorola XOOM is one of the nicest tablet PCs that landed on shelves during the ongoing year, a true competitor against Apple's highly praised iPad.

Here's what Best Buy has to say about the device: “Inside its super-slim design, the Motorola XOOM tablet is loaded with everything you need for life on the go.”

The specifications list of this device would include the said fast application processor, complemented by the highly appealing Android 3.0 OS, and Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity capabilities.

Moreover, the new device comes with 32GB of internal memory, and with the possibility to expand the storage space through microSD card slot (which should be activated through a future software update).

The tablet PC also comes with dual cameras (a 5MP photo snapper on the back and a 2MP camera on the front), as well as with enhanced Internet browsing and multimedia playback capabilities.

The Motorola XOOM should arrive on shelves at TELUS too in the near future, and, hopefully those who didn't have the chance to secure a unit now would be able to purchase it then.

The tablet PC can be seen listed here at Best Buy, and here at Future Shop.
