The impossibly thin Motorola RAZR MAXX is about to make its debut in Norway. The smartphone has already been confirmed in the UK, Germany and Denmark.

According to Motorola, the RAZR MAXX is expected to hit shelves in mid-May, but the handset maker failed to unveil an exact release date.

Currently, the smartphone is available for pre-order in the UK for £430 (US$695 or €525) outright, but it might also go for free on select plans.

At 9mm thickness, the device is almost 2mm thicker than the original Motorola RAZR, but this is barely noticeable.

The main selling point of the RAZR MAXX is the high-capacity 3300 mAh Li-Ion battery that powers the phone. Motorola rated this battery for up to 600 hours of standby time or up to 17.6 hours of talk time.

It is also worth mentioning that Motorola confirmed that, while the RAZR MAXX is shipped with Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform at launch, the phone is scheduled for an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade in Q2 2012.

The device is built from the same premium materials as the original RAZR, including KEVLAR fiber, Corning Gorilla Glass and splashguard coating.

On the inside, the smartphone is equipped with a dual-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, 16GB of internal memory, 1 GB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

There’s also an impressive 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as a stunning 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Advanced capacitive touchscreen display.

Since we re-imagined the iconic RAZR brand, the Motorola RAZR has wowed consumers across the globe by combining the pinnacle of design with mind-blowing power. RAZR MAXX builds on those same principles, delivering an incredible battery life that is perfect for Norwegian consumers who want to push their smartphone to the limits and banish the low battery beep to history,” said Victoria McManus, UK and Nordics marketing director, Motorola Mobility.
