It seems that mobile phone maker Motorola remains set to make its new handsets available for purchase in as many markets as possible, and the launch of Motorola MILESTONE 2 is one more step it takes in this direction.

As the phone's name suggests, we're looking here at a version of Motorola DROID 2, the Android 2.2 handset released on Verizon Wireless airwaves several weeks ago, and the successor of the original DROID by Motorola.

The new MILESTONE 2 handset comes to the market with the company's MOTOBLUR solution, and is expected to become available for purchase in the fourth quarter of the ongoing year in Europe.

“The Android 2.2 device offers more speed, more connectivity, more messaging, more storage, more web with Adobe Flash Player 10.1, more multimedia and more personalization than the original award-winning MILESTONE,” the company announced.

The specifications list of this device includes a 1 Ghz processor, a sliding QWERTY keyboard, a large touchscreen display, and 3G mobile hotspot capabilities, with support for up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices.

The phone's specs also include a 5 MP camera with dual LED flash and 720p HD video capture capabilities, as well as 8 GB of internal memory, with the possibility to add up to 32 Gb more via memory card slot.

DLNA / WiFi / Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity are also included in the package, as well as 3.5mm audio jack, Enterprise Exchange support, or the full suite of the Google applications: Google Search, Google Maps with Latitude and Street View, Gmail, YouTube, and Google Talk.

The phone also offers fast access to the Android Market, where users can find a number of over 70,000 applications available for download for their devices.

“MILESTONE 2 offers more power, more speed, with an improved keyboard, so users can send, access and share information even quicker than before to manage their work and personal life,” said Alain Mutricy, senior vice president, portfolio and device product management, Motorola Mobility.

“This introduction not only reaffirms our commitment to innovate on Android but offers consumers the leading edge features they crave including fast web browsing, messaging, application downloads and multimedia.”
