The latest Android smartphone released by Motorola, the DROID 4 has just hit shelves at Verizon Wireless. The slider can be purchased for as low as $199.99 (150 EUR) with a new two-year agreement.

The good news is that Motorola DROID 4 is eligible for Verizon’s double data promotional offer, so customers who purchase the smartphone and sign up for a new two-year agreement will get 4GB of mobile data each month for only $30 (22 EUR).

However, customers who are not willing to commit to a long-term contract can purchase only the phone for $549.99 (415 EUR) outright.

The carrier also recommends customers to pair the DROID 4 with Motorola Lapdock 500, which is available from Verizon Wireless as well for another $299.97 (225 EUR).

Those who want to purchase the phone, the Lapdock 500 accessory, or both, can do so via Verizon Wireless Communications Stores and online at the carrier’s site.

Motorola DROID 4 follows the same design line of the original DROID RAZR, but comes with a 5-row slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

DROID 4’s display is slightly smaller in comparison with DROID RAZR’s touchscreen. In addition, it sports a secondary 1.3-megapixel photo snapper, whereas the sleek DROID RAZR packs a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.

The rest of the specs are similar, including the 1.2 GHz dual core TI OMAP 4430 processor and PowerVR SGX540 graphics processing unit. The same goes for the software, as both smartphones run Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform.

However, Motorola will update its entire RAZR family to Ice Cream Sandwich in Q2 2012, though the company has yet to announce the exact release dates.

Motorola DROID 4 embeds 16GB of internal memory, 1GB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion. There’s also an enhanced 8-megapixel rear camera, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording.
