There’s no question about it: if there ever was one issue of the legendary Rolling Stone magazine to cause tsunamic waves with the public and the media, then that must be the current edition, featuring Adam Lambert. The coming out of the American Idol runner-up might not have surprised many but, for what it’s worth, it did generate mixed reactions. Adam, in return, is enjoying every second of it, as the photos from the spread reveal.

The Rolling Stone issue in question is now on newsstands so, as expected, some of the photos that make the spread have also started to pop on the Internet. Shot by Matthew Rolston and coming mostly in black and white, the pics are meant to capture precisely that “je ne sais quoi” that has made Adam such a hit with the audiences. There’s no doubt that there’s a wild side to him, as he also revealed in his many performances on American Idol, and it’s precisely this that Rolling Stone also wanted to capture on film and then render on paper.

Adam shocks with his flamboyance even if that’s not what he specifically sets out to do, it has often been said. He is good looking and definitely not afraid to show it. What’s most important, Adam is not afraid of being himself, in all his eccentric, makeup and nail polish wearing self, vaguely hinting at dusty images of iconic rock’n’roll stars whose irresistible charm and appeal with the public relied both in their stunning vocal skills and out of the ordinary looks. Adam is all this and then some in the current Rolling Stone spread.

Speaking of rock’n’roll, KISS co-founder and legendary guitarist Gene Simmons was saying just the other day that the American Idol star (and America’s current favorite) did not have it in him to be a solo rock star. According to the rocker, speaking on the occasion of a promo interview for his upcoming reality show, Adam, while extremely talented and getting the right vibe from the public, was about to undermine his own career by openly speaking about his preferences. It’s things like this that tend to turn audiences away from an artist, Simmons was saying.

“Well you know he’s a very talented kid. He should have won American Idol as far as I am concerned.” Simmons began by saying. Minutes later, he was delivering Lambert the “kiss of death,” saying that talking about his personal life would kill his career in the bud if he kept doing it. “That’s going to be a career killer. I think it’s going to be over before it’s begun and it’s unfortunate because the kid’s got the pipes. There’s no questions. He should really shut up. No one cares what you do behind closed doors anyway. And if you’re putting that front and center, you’re forcing us to deal with it and it’s going to be a turnoff for the masses.” Simmons said.

Be that as it may, Adam insists the aspects of his personal life that he’s now discussing with the media also make him who he is. He may not define himself by his preferences, but they are a part of him and he has no problem talking about it if that’s what fans really want to know. So far, fans agree with Adam.
