Capcom has just unleashed a few more details about its upcoming Resident Evil games for the Nintendo 3DS platform, The Mercenaries 3D and Revelations, including a trailer for the former and a shaky release date for the latter.

Capcom has been showcasing plenty of information about its Resident Evil franchise, announcing last week not only that it will be releasing high definition remakes of Resident Evil 4 and Code: Veronica X, but also a new take on the series, in the form of Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, which will change up the core mechanics of the series.

Now, more details have appeared about the franchise's 3DS titles, the more action-focused The Mercenaries 3D and the story-heavy Revelations.

Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D will be the first title to appear for the 3DS, and it has now received a short but sweet video, showcasing the main features, including the two-player cooperative mode, the ability to switch up the playable characters from Chris and Claire Redfield to Jill or Wesker, and many other things.

According to Nintendo Power, via CVG, the Mercenaries 3D will also have plenty of music from past Resident Evil games, but also all-new tracks that are designed to complement the action on the handheld's 3D-ready screen.

Downloadable content is also an option for the game, but its producer, Masachika Kawata, revealed that Capcom still needed to talk with Nintendo about digital content delivery on the 3DS and how it might be done.

Resident Evil fans that want a bit more story with their games will have to wait quite a long time until Revelations appears, as Capcom set a very shaky 2012 release date on the title's Facebook page.

The company does say that every copy of Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D will include a short demo for Revelations, so you'll still be able to taste a bit of the game when Mercenaries is released, during this summer.

"Set on board an ocean liner, the demo lets players take control of one of the full game’s characters, Jill Valentine, as she explores the ship’s dark interior, killing any mysterious creatures that emerge from the shadows," the Japanese company revealed.

Until this year's E3 conference, when Capcom showcases more details about the two games, check out the short video of The Mercenaries 3D below.
