Capcom has just detailed one of its new Resident Evil games that will appear for the future Nintendo 3DS, including things about its story, as well as four impressive screenshots.

Capcom is really supporting the upcoming Nintendo 3DS handheld console, and has revealed that many of its flagship franchises will appear on it, including Resident Evil or Street Fighter.

The Japanese company is so convinced about the 3DS that it won't release just one Resident Evil game, but two, Revelations and The Mercenaries 3D.

The company talked about the Mercenaries title, and revealed that it is more than 70 percent done, largely because there won't be any story, just lots of zombie-killing action.

This is due to the fact that the Mercenaries mode was just a bonus feature in previous Resident Evil games, so that players could test out their skills in special events.

"The Mercenaries mode was just bonus material up until now," RE: Revelations director Koushi Nakanishi revealed, "so a lot of gamers never even got around to playing them. You had to finish the main games to unlock them, which made them tough to access in the first place, and a lot of the challenges were pretty sadistically balanced."

Still, Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D will have lots of new features, besides the fact that it will be in 3D thanks to the impressive hardware of the Nintendo 3DS.

According to Capcom, the controls have been tweaked, and now players can actually move while firing upon the zombie horde, something that hasn't been present in any previous Resident Evil game.

Players will also be able to toggle between third-person and first-person views, as well as customize their characters, weapons or skills.

This comes at a cost though, as there won't be any story in this game.

"It's tailored to be a pure action game, so there is no story aspect to it at all," Inoue said. "Instead of that, we're implementing a lot of new gameplay into the action."

Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D is set to appear for the Nintendo 3DS after its release.

The device is scheduled to go on sale in its native Japan in February, and then all around the world in March.

Until then, check out four new screenshots of Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D.
