Capcom did not have a good fiscal first quarter for the current year but it seems that the situation might change for the same period of 2011. The Japanese publisher has announced, during a Question & Answer session with investors, that two of its biggest upcoming titles, the 3D versions of Resident Evil: Revelations and Super Street Fighter IV, will not be launched before March 31, 2011.

The two video games were initially shown off at the E3 trade show in June, linked with the Nintendo 3DS handheld, the device that is set to offer full three dimensional gaming without the use of special peripherals like glasses. Nintendo was eager to show how the new platform would appeal to the hardcore and both Resident Evil and Street Fighter are two of the franchises that have the potential to attract gamers that are usually beyond the reach of more mainstream Nintendo titles.

Capcom has recently talked about how it needs to put out more titles linked with its major franchises in order to create consumer habits among its Western audience. It might mean that the 3D versions of Resident Evil and Super Street Fighter are pushed back in order for the company to use resources to put out games linked to the franchises for already existing platforms, like the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 or the Nintendo Wii.

The Nintendo 3DS is a truly revolutionary device that managed to get several awards after it was initially shown at E3 and impressed all those who saw it in action. Nintendo has not said exactly when the new handheld will be launched but an event is planned for September 29 in Japan where pricing options will be unveiled with the launch date for the country coming in about one month. Nintendo is expecting to put the device out in North America and in Europe in the spring on 2011, probably just before the launch dates for the 3D versions of Resident Evil and Super Street Fighter.
