Miley Cyrus is currently working on breaking free from her previous Hannah Montana image both in music and in film. As far as the latter is concerned, she may come across one major obstacle: the leaked video of her smoking salvia from a bong.

As fans must know, Cyrus is now shooting for “LOL,” a comedy that was also supposed to include a scene where her character would be smoking pot.

The scene in question has already been shot but producers are now working hard to remove all trace of Miley in it because they don’t want the bong controversy to damage the film’s chances at the box office, Us Magazine reports.

Of course, there is something fishy about this coming up just now, since the bong video has been out for over a month and it’s highly doubtful producers realized the risk they were taking just now.

“‘The scene can’t be reshot,’ the source explains. Instead, using ‘tricky editing and effects magic, they are erasing all traces of her inhaling or being in the same shot with the actor’,” Us Magazine writes.

Admittedly, the scene includes Miley’s character smoking pot with a male friend and, understandably, producers feel the resemblance between real life and art would be too much for some.

“This week, film editors are erasing Cyrus’ ‘entire arm’ out of the pot-smoking shot,” Us goes on to say.

It’s only normal for this to happen, since the movie studio doesn’t want to be associated in any way to what Miley does in her personal life.

As far as she’s concerned, she doesn’t really care if producers take her out altogether from the scene or not, says the same mag.

“The studio doesn’t want to take any chances having the controversy affect the film,” says the source for the same publication.

Ever since the video of Miley smoking the bong leaked, she has refused to speak about it publicly. Her father apologized for her instead – on Twitter.
