Former heavyweight boxing champion has become a husband for the third time, as he tied the knot with girlfriend Lakiha Spicer during an intimate ceremony in Las Vegas, Yahoo! News informs citing a Reuters report. The ceremony took place on Saturday and there were no guests invited to attend, the owner of the chapel says for the aforementioned source.

“Tyson’s marriage to Spicer took place on Saturday in a private ceremony at the La Bella Wedding Chapel, its owner Shawn Absher told Reuters. […] Tyson’s union with Spicer is his third marriage. He was previously married for one year to actress Robin Givens and for five years to a doctor, Monica Turner. He retired from boxing in 2005 after a career marked by controversy.” Reuters reveals.

The owner of the chapel says for the same publication that, while there was only the bride and groom in the room at the time their union became official, both seemed extremely happy about being alone. “Very intimate, sincere. Mike seemed very happy.” Absher says of the secret ceremony. Given that Tyson’s 4-year-old daughter Exodus (from another woman, not from Lakiha) passed away approximately two weeks ago after chocking herself with the chord from a treadmill, it is only understandable that the former champ wanted privacy at this point in time, several publications are pointing out.

Also on a personal note, not long ago, Tyson was weighing in on the Chris Brown-Rihanna debate, saying that, while he too knew the kind of rage a man may feel to want to hit a woman, such an act should never be condoned in any way. As fans must know, Mike has often been accused of being violent and abusive towards women and, not once, the allegations proved to be founded.

“I understand the situation. I understand passion with young kids. My personal opinion about that is, he’s just a baby. He’s just a little baby that don’t know how to handle his emotions when it comes to a woman.” the former champ was saying of Brown and how he behaved towards Rihanna on February 8. “You can’t abuse them. It’s really sick what you [can] do. She has a space in your heart and you believe you care about her more than anybody in the world. Do I think it’s right to beat up a woman? No – hell no. Have I hit a woman before? Hell yeah. Was I wrong? Hell yeah. I’m a product of that environment. Do I regret ever doing that? Hell yeah. Would I do it again? Never.” Tyson added.
