Everything going great: Halo 3 is launching, XBLA is flourishing and Elite is selling

Peter Moore has all the reason in the world to be happy. The Xbox 360 is doing fairly good, especially with the Elite model out now (or at least so he says), laughing indirectly at Sony's mistakes with the PS3 and their PlayStation Home service, knowing that Halo 3's release will provide XBLA with ever more popularity. In his interview with NextGeneration.biz, he talks about how right they were right from the start with XBLA:

He starts off with a sort of a joke, but a true one nonetheless: "I've walked a mile in those shoes," he says. "I'm digging up my tortured past here, but remember Dreamcast?" comparing it to the PS3 of course. And isn't he right? The PS3 isn't doing any better than Sega's DreamCast when it was released. Later on in the interview, Moore reveals:

"Four years ago, we looked at the concept of a lounge where your avatar could wander around. We looked at an area where people could play their music, show people their videos. But it was not something that we felt worth pursuing. We made a decision that the user interface that we would put in to Xbox Live was one that got you in quickly, that allowed you to navigate where you wanted to go, and to do what you wanted to do. The concept of hanging out was something that, while we looked at it, we just didn't think was something that our users wanted to do."

Proud of what he's accomplished, Moore claims that the only ones who don't understand the benefits of the Core SKU, are those who haven't tried it. Asked whether it was better not to launch it so soon, Moore replied:

"I stick by what we've done. Everybody criticizes but believe me, we need to look forward three years from now when the pricing really becomes important. Quite frankly PS2 has proven to us, that if you get a product with enough games at the right price, it becomes very valuable. [...] The only people who are confused are the people who don't buy it."

But an issue still remains undiscussed: how good exactly the newly rolled out Elite doing is, and where could we get our hands on some serious sales figures? Is it really selling well? Last time I checked, gamers were having trouble with it.
