As a result of an agreement closed between Nokia and MiTV Corporation, Malaysia will benefit from one of the most evolved mobile broadcast TV services. This is based on Digital video Broadcast (DVB-H) technology, one of the most efficient for mobile phones.

Vietnam has been the first market to introduce DVB-H technology for mobile TV performances. As it turned out to be a success, Nokia currently plans on making this technology available at a global level.

Nokia and MiTV will provide implementation from now on, integration and application development services. This means that the users of this technology will be able to watch the latest news, catch their favorite TV series and have all the music videos and documentaries that a normal TV would have to offer. Moreover, this is done anywhere and at any time, due to the mobility brought by handsets.

The DVB-H Mobile TV comes with several advantages for those which will choose to use it once it is available. Kenneth Chang, Executive Director at MiTV Networks points out some of the most important benefits of this technology: "The experience will be unlike any other mobile TV offerings currently available in the market. MiTV's DVB-H service doesn't rely on packet-based technology, so there's no streaming and lag associated with it. You will be able to switch between channels instantaneously, and on top of that, the picture quality and reception will be better than any video streaming service available today. It will be totally revolutionary - a true mobile TV experience that we believe will delight our customers tremendously".

Nokia intends on expending this technology globally and provide it for five billion people everywhere by 2015. The DVB-H technology will be available in Malaysia starting with the second half of 2007, which means that it should be there any time now.
