She’s often said she wanted to prove critics and fans that she’s more than a pretty face with an awesome body, and that she could do dramas as well. Megan Fox will have to wait some for that, because her latest film, “Passion Play,” is going straight to DVD.

It’s never a good thing when a movie can’t score a theatrical release even when it boasts such a strong cast as this one, including Fox, Mickey Rourke, Bill Murray and Rhys Ifans.

However, “Passion Play” has already gotten very negative reviews, with audiences laughing out loud and walking out of a screening at the Toronto Film Festival, the Huffington Post writes.

That, combined with the fact that it’s officially going straight to DVD, proves that perhaps Fox’s best chance at making it in Hollywood was to have remained on the “Transformers” franchise, it is being said.

“Neither angel wings nor cleavage could save Megan Fox’s newest film,” the Post states.

Indeed, reviews say that the film includes plenty of scenes in which Fox disrobes or is shown in little clothing – a thing necessary for the character, of course.

Because she has wings and she also happens to be almost painfully beautiful, Fox’s character is being used as a circus freak by a gangster.

“Fox stars as an angel (or just a woman with a random set of wings) working in a circus in the film ‘Passion Play,’ a slightly bizarre premise that you’ll have to go out of your way to see – it’s going direct to DVD,” the Post writes.

“The film, which co-stars Mickey Rourke as a burnt out trumpet player who rescues and somehow romances Fox from Bill Murray’s sleazy gangster, is set to be released to home theaters everywhere on May 31st,” says the same publication.

It’s not that far-fetched to believe that initial reaction to the film had a lot to do with its difficulty of finding a distributor, at least domestically.

“Playing at the Toronto Film Festival in September, the film bombed, with terrible reviews and viewers openly mocking it as it played – that is, before they walked out,” the Post says.
